Our goal is to help you make
an educated decision about your health care and
provide you with information about our office.
With
our knowledge and expertise has led us to the
development of a center consisting of state of
the art care using the revolutionary technology. While we do work with Musculoskeletal conditions ranging from sprains and strains to shoulders and plantar fasciitis, the majority of our work is with patients suffering from peripheral neuropathy.
__________________________________________________________________________________________
We work primarily with patients suffering with peripheral neuropathy from
multiple causes. I don't have to tell you that peripheral neuropathy is
very difficult to treat. It really doesn't respond well to many
treatments, if any. There is something that we have been working on
perfecting for some time that shows great promise in treating these difficult
conditions.
Part of what we do in treating patients with certain kinds of peripheral
neuropathy is use a class IV therapeutic laser to stimulate the nerve cells
with the restoration of function as the goal of treatment. This is not a class II or III or "low level" or "cold" laser. This is a class IV laser, which is thousands of percent more powerful than a class III laser. So it can safely penetrate to the depths necessary to reach the nerves that are damaged by the peripheral neuropathy.
Although a class IV laser is in the same class as a surgical laser, it is not a cutting laser. A cutting laser uses a very narrow, concentrated beam to burn the tissues. Our laser has a series of diffusing lenses to create a wide, therapeutic beam. This allows it to penetrate into the tissues without damaging them. The treatment itself creates a mild warmth and is very comfortable and safe. Go to the "Our Practice" Tab at the top of the page to learn more about how the laser works on the nerves.
The exact treatment protocols for each patient differ widely, of course,
from patient to patient.
Peripheral neuropathy resulting from diabetes, chemotherapy, injuries,
post-surgical as well as idiopathic causes and just plain wear and tear have
responded favorably to treatment here. Go to the "Patient Stories" tab a the top of the page to hear from patients with neuropathy from a variety of causes.
As you know, treatment of peripheral neuropathy pain is usually very
frustrating, not only for you as a patient, but for your doctor as well. Most
neurogenic pain (Neuropathy pain) does not usually respond well to the typical
pain relief medicines. You are then left with anti-convulsants like
Gabapentin, Lyrica or Neurontin or depression meds. Sometimes those can take
the edge off of the symptoms, but only in every increasing dosages (and possibly side effects!) as the
neuropathy worsens. And of course they don't do anything for the numbness or tingling. Anodyne or other low level or "cold" lasers
just don't have the depth of tissue penetration to get the job done. It
is difficult when you are frustrated and looking for answers and you hear that
your doctors are out of options.
There is an option, but you have to take the next step. The good news, is that it is easy, informative and free!
Go to the "Our Practice" tab at the top of the page to read more about our work with Peripheral Neuropathy. You can also go to our "Patient Stories" pages to read what our patients are saying. I know it helps to hear from someone who has gone through treatment before, especially because most of our patients have tried so many things that have not worked for them in the past. Call our office at 763-544-3811 to schedule a free consultation or go to www.helpneuropathy.com to request more information. There is hope for you!
Best regards,
Dr. Timothy Kelm, DC
